To find the TRUE COST of any system, the following items must be evaluated:
1. Cost of engineering and design
2. Cost of construction
- a. Cost of components and parts
- b. Labor costs
- c. Collection system and components - Small diameter vs. large diameter
3. Long term operation and maintenance (O&M) costs, electricity, chemicals, labor, component replacement, etc.
4. System life expectancy - 25, 50 - 100 plus years
5. Capital cost of facility per year of operation
6. Quality of Discharge, meeting today’s and future requirements
7. Anticipated future expansion – expandable, modular
8. Recovery of water for re-use to lower costs of potable water
